Who knew Milwaukee could be this much fun???
We left Friday morning, and managed a smooth trip. I think the portable DVD player from my mom helped keep Maren occupied. She watched a Heffalump movie. What's a Hefflump, you ask? Heffalump if I know. (There was, sadly, a near-car-sick-incident on the way home...)
Here we stopped for a bite to eat and stretch the 'ol legs.
Saturday morning we all went to an indoor water park to celebrate Amelia's ("Mia's") 2nd birthday. It was a BLAST. Seriously, I felt like I was 8 years old, which is an unusual occurrence when you have two kids. Here, Jake, Michele, and Mia try and spray me. While I was holding my camera. Ah-hem.
Uncle Natey, as the only one present without kids (his kids couldn't come), was a "super" uncle. The wee ones looooove Uncle Patater.
And then, of course, there's Gramma, who's an unbelievable help, as always. Here she was hanging out with Luke and Nicholas out in the courtyard of the hotel while the older kids napped, and us adults either slept ourselves or played some cards together. Even a twenty-minute break like this is awesome, and so so so thoughtful of Gramma to take on. Besides, then you get cute pics like this one:
And here are the non-napping adults (with gramma on a blanket in the background), which happened to be the four Koering sibs. I can't tell you the last time just the four of us hung out. And if you can't read Nate's shirt it says "Larsen precalculus. Take it to the limits." Hmmmm.
And then we went to GermanFest that was on the lake. It was an unexpected goooood time. I guess that's what happens when beer, brats, and lederhosen abound. Luke was deliriously happy. You can't tell from this pic (he typically grins, right until the camera comes out, trixy little bugger).
And this is what it looks like for my family to be in one place. We take up a lot of room. We require three strollers, two carriers, six parents, one uncle, and two grandparents. And we still feel under-staffed.
Sunday morning we spent some time in the pool. Maren has discovered jumping off the dock at the cabin, and was practicing in the pool.
The three dads and three of the little ones had a 'bet I can throw my kid higher than your kid' contest. Adam and Ryan won.
Milwaukee. Who would have guessed it was the perfect way to "end" our summer??? Now, if we could just take a vacation to rest from our vacation...
