We ate lots of ice cream goodies. Here, the kiddos enjoyed a homemade milkshake by daddy:
We spent time on the beach, and the local wading pool to make the most of the warm days:
And this summer, the kids began to really play and have some fun together. They did lots of giggling together:
I guess Luke doesn't mind getting squished - as long as it's his sister doing the squishing.
Something must have been really funny!
To help balance out the picture of August for you, I should also include a photograph of these two adorable kiddos pushing each other and squealing so loudly and so high that Sky runs to hide under the coffee table and while they play tug-of-war with the poor teddy bear who for Maren is named Tog and for Luke is named BEAH! and who are playing very different roles in their most recent imaginative fairytales which Maren would like to play alone and Luke would like to play - very much - with his big sister. Hmmm.
For some reason I wasn't able to get a picture of that. I was too busy playing referee.
But ahhhh, summer! We've had such an active and enjoyable and (yes, even) relaxing summer - which was the goal. The kids played joyously, fought determinedly. Andy and I managed to do a few little projects, but not let the projects eat the whole summer up. Overall, it was so much fun that I'm struggling to find my balance again back at work. I'm working on it. So hopefully it won't be another month before you hear from me again...
