Ok, it's possible everyone has already seen this movie and this was incredibly popular or something - I have no idea, since I see a "new" movie maybe one time a year. ( This year in particular - I had literally not seen ANY of the movies that were up for an oscar. That is pathetic, people.) Anyway, last night was originally a date night for Andy and I, but it fell through at the last minute, so we decided we'd do our best to have a "date night" at home. This is not easy, because of course there are a million other things staring you in the face at home: laundry, the dirty dishes, your computer and all the work that you could be doing, etc.
So, we piled into bed early and pulled out a computer to watch a movie. We sort of half-heartedly picked this one, thinking the cast looked good... Steve Carell, Juliette Binoche, Dane Cook, Dianne Wiess... And ya know what? I LOVED this movie. Steve Carell is a big part of that, since he is not only his hilarious self, but he is so vulnerable and likeable and authentic. The dynamics of this family are the other magnetic draw to this movie - a huge family that just keeps living it all out loud, all their flaws and love.
I laughed, and I cried - what more can you ask from a movie?! See it, people. See it!
