A letter from Mom

Happy one-month birthday, Maren!
One month ago right now we were 'oohing' and 'aahing' at you, our little angel, who had come to us in the night. Well, you didn't just appear; I worked very hard to finally get to see and hold you! We have been in awe of you. The doctor said you are "perfect" -- and we agree. I know that may cause you some problems in the years ahead, us thinking you're perfect and all, but we can't help it. Before you were born, your dad warned me that most of the time, babies come out not-so-cute - you know, gooey and scrunchy and alien-looking... but when you were born, your dad turned to me and said "Sally, she's really beautiful!" And you are.

I can't believe that you are here! We are so in love with you. After nine wonderful months (and minus the last few weeks of constant back aches, they really were wonderful) of you living inside of me, you are now sitting in your bouncy chair, squirming around, looking desperately for your nuk, your blue eyes shining. We love you so much.

Love, Mom
