The wheel came off the wagon

Literally.

Today, while the fam was at the zoo--actually, while standing in front of the gibbons on the tropics trail--one of the wheels came off our new double-stroller. Just like that. This is the THIRD time we've used it. It's brand-spanking-new! So there we were, on the tropics trail, and Andy's got the stroller upside down like we're fixing a tire on the side of the road while swarms of other (perfectly-working) strollers zoomed past, enjoying the many sights of the MN zoo. And, true to life, although there were 8 million people* at the zoo, not one person stopped to help, show concern, or even laugh at the hilarious scene.

A woman did stop us on the way out and say, "You guys get the resiliency award of the day." I took it as a compliment. Another woman noticed that I was lugging a (not light) baby car seat around the tropics trail on one arm while my toddler was running 100 yards ahead of me and ignoring my cries of "MAREN!! STAY CLOSE!"... she said, "Wow, you're a trooper." I think that might say it all. She walked away, and my response was "not by choice, lady, not by choice."

Thank holy Jeezus that Andy was with me. Otherwise, I would have been balled up next to the gibbons, crying.
