If you're reading this, it's because you got an "invite" from us to check out this blog. Welcome, if you haven't before! It's sort of a pain in the patukis, I know; but we decided we'd rather keep the family and event info off the entirety of the internet, and keep it to those who know us. Which means you have to log in to see the blog. Sorry about that. I sincerely hope this doesn't deter readers, but, I really didn't enjoy nick-naming my kids just in case icky people decided to do horrible things. Every time I wrote "Duke" instead of "Luke" I thought of a few too many scenarios that I was protecting the kids from... and, well, there's enough anxiety in the world without that.
That being said, I know there are people who were checking the blog who I may not have invited (unintentionally, of course). So, feel free to request invites to my email address...
I really enjoy keeping the world of friends and family looped in to what's happening in our little world. I hope you enjoy it, too!

I'm interested in why you decided to go private - was there a particular incident that prompted the move, or just the fear of one? It's an issue I certainly think about with my blog, which is only very mildly pseudonymized ... but then I think of all the much bigger blogs than mine like Dooce or Suburban bliss that use real names all over the place. For us, it ended up being less anxiety producing to just be out there on the 'net - but then part of the appeal of blogging for me is having that public audience, and I love getting new readers that I don't know in real life. Since that's not part of why you blog, I can see where privatizing isn't such a big deal, but I was just curious about the rationale. Not that it's any of my business! But if you felt like sharing, I'd be interested to read it.
