Letters: Month 2

Little Luke,
You've changed so much this month! So much, it almost isn't right to put "little" before your name! Wow, you've grown -- from 10 pounds at the beginning of this month to nearly 14 pounds at the end! (Whoa, you like your milk.) You've settled into a nice routine - and the best part of that is that you're sleeping nearly all night... which has your dad and I verrrrrrrrry happy!

You also started grinning at us, which always makes our day. Sort of like you realized that we were suddenly there in front of you, making goofy faces and hoping we'd get a reaction- and one day, you just turned on the charm. Your big sister maintained her serious looks for quite some time, but you are quickly turning into a little grinner! Sooooo cute! You don't fuss a lot, you love to be held - or at least be in the same room as the rest of us. You definitely make yourself heard when we plop you in your papazan chair and leave to another part of the house, even for a minute or two... it's like you're saying "HEY! JUST CAUSE I'M IMMOBILE DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN JUST LEAVE ME HERE! COME BACK!" So, we do! You are easily soothed, and so content for someone who makes so much noise.

Speaking of noise... you're becoming famous for your grunts. You are a noise-maker! Not a loud crier - not much of a crier at all, actually... but wow, those grunts. And when you finally get out what you've been working so hard to push out, you grin. It's great. But it's not unusual for us to go through two or three outfits a DAY. You have some serious pushing power, dude.

Some comments we've heard from people: "He is such a boy!" "Aw, he looks like an old man." (We hear that one a lot!) "Wow, he DOES grunt a lot!" (For some reason, people think we tend to exaggerate...???....) "He looks just like his dad!" "He's definitely a Koering!" (According to your many visitors and pals, you have looked like almost everyone you're related to at one point or another.)

We already can't imagine our family without you. We kiss you three hundred times a day, and try to soak up the alone time we can manage when your sister's sleeping or occupied and stare at you as much as we possibly can because soon-oh my gosh so soon- you'll be beyond this wonderful staring stage. Your beautiful blue eyes are so fun to watch take in the world, our little wide-eyed boy. These next few months are some of my favorite... can't wait to watch you continue to 'wake-up' and interact more and more with us and the world around you.
love you,
mom and dad

From the Sister:
So, you're sticking around, huh? Hmmmm... I'm going to have to change my strategy, cause my daily cry of "NO LUKE!" whenever the rents pick you up aren't doing much good. Sometimes I really think you're adorable, and other times I want to push you out of your seat and roll you out the door. (*sigh*) I do love it when you look right at me - mom says you like to watch me do things, which is fun. And, I love to crawl onto the playmat with you and get our picture taken together. We have lots of pictures of us doing that! And, I'm learning lots of new words and phrases, thanks to you: "tummy time", "it's ok, Luke," and "hi big sister!" So, that's cool. love you (cause you're my brother and I have to),
Maren
